چکیده
Wear resistant coatings that comply with non-toxic environment goals are highly desirable. Cr 3 C 2 –NiCr is a promising alternative to the toxic, ‘Co’- containing WC–Co mitigate wear. The purpose of this study was examine suitability for automotive brake disc application by systematically investigating their dry sliding wear behavior at different test conditions. Therefore, High Velocity Air Fuel (HVAF) and Oxy (HVOF) were employed deposit coatings. powder feedstock as-deposited characterized microstructure phase composition using SEM XRD. Mechanical properties (hardness, fracture toughness), porosity surface topography evaluated. subjected tests normal loads (5 N, 10 N 15 N) alumina ball as counter surface. Coefficient friction (CoF) evolution HVAF HVOF deposited coatings, along performance, obtained load performance ranking processed influenced conditions, demonstrating better resistance than harsh conditions performing under mild Detailed post-wear analysis worn counter-body resulting debris performed reveal degradation mechanisms Findings from work provide new insights into desirable microstructural features wear, which can be further exploited wear-resistant

Tribo-Mechanical Properties of HVOF Deposited Fe3Al Coatings Reinforced with TiB2 Particles for Wear-Resistant Applications
This study reveals the effect of TiB₂ particles on the mechanical and tribological properties of Fe₃Al-TiB₂ composite coatings against an alumina counterpart. The feedstock was produced by milling Fe₃Al and TiB₂ powders in a high energy ball mill. The high-velocity oxy-fuel (HVOF) technique was used to deposit the feedstock powder on a steel substrate. The effect of TiB₂ addition on mechanical ...

This study investigates the effect of carbide particle size on the microstructure, mechanical properties, and abrasive wear resistance of WC-17%Co HVOF-sprayed coatings. The characteristics of WC-1, WC-2, and WC-3 coatings with carbide sizes of 1 µm, 0.9 µm, and 0.5 µm, respectively, were also investigated. WC-1 coating experienced the maximum carbon loss of 42%, while WC-2 and WC-3 coatings un...
متن کاملCharacterization of hydroxyapatiteynano-zirconia composite coatings deposited by high velocity oxy-fuel (HVOF) spray process
Hydroxyapatite (HA)ynano-zirconia composite coatings were successfully produced through high velocity oxy-fuel (HVOF) spraying of radio frequency (RF) plasma synthesized powders. Microstructure characterization and morphology analysis on the nano-structured coatings were conducted using scanning electron microscopy (SEM), transmission electron microscopy (TEM), X-ray diffractometry (XRD), and d...

In this study two commonly used steels in boiler plants, i.e. (SAE-213) T-22 and SA516 (Grade-70) were coated with different thermal spray processes namely HVOF and cold spray. The coating powder used was made up of NiCrTiCRe powder. The performance of the coated as well as uncoated material was investigated using a pin-on-disc machine [Model: Wear and Friction Monitor Tester TR-20], supplied b...
متن کاملHigh Temperature Corrosion Behavior of HVOF, Fe3Al Coatings
This work evaluates the suitability of iron aluminide coatings for use in high temperature fossil fuel combustion environments, such as boiler applications. The coatings are applied using High Velocity Oxy-Fuel (HVOF) thermal spray techniques. Bulk Fe3Al coatings are known to exhibit excellent oxidation and sulfidation resistance at high temperatures, however, the behavior of HVOF-deposited Fe3...
